Washington's Dirtiest Politicians
Rep. Vern Buchanan’s former business partner and several former employees of his car dealerships have testified that he forced employees to contribute to his campaigns, and used corporate funds to reimburse them.
Rep. Gregory Meeks took out a loan, with no interest and no repayment schedule, and failed to report it for three years -- making his financial dealings extremely murky. He has longstanding ties to the financier and convicted felon R. Allen Stanford, for whom he allegedly asked a favor from Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
Rep. Rob Andrews was caught spending campaign funds on perks like a family trip to Scotland, travel to Los Angeles with his daughter, and even a high school graduation party. He also earmarked more than $1.5 million for Rutgers University Law School, his wife’s employer.
